Spiritual Archetypes – A Doorway to Your Soul

When we step onto the internal super highway of spiritual evolution, we begin to unravel the differences between personality influenced desires and authentic inner yearnings of the soul. Every moment presents an opportunity to shed behaviours which no longer serve and instead allow divine beingness to shine forth. This continual self realisation process is far from easy, sometimes it is exceptionally difficult to feel and know what is truly authentic. However, benevolence has armed us with enlightening tools to unravel the inner coding: we may take on a filter – a Spiritual Archetype – that helps us see more clearly who we are…

Activating beingness, untangling distortions

My observation is that a Spiritual Archetype is like a spiritual identity. It is an energy that may infuse our being for a given period of time and cause us to feel a particular way within our relationships with people and to the world in general. An Archetype is kind of like a colour filter on a projector. It will enhance particular colours in our soul ray harmonic that we can see our true light more clearly.

A simple Spiritual Archetype might be a patriarch or matriarch for example, in which, case paternal or maternal feelings will arise through our being and then colour many of our interactions. In so doing, we’ll get to experience deep feelings of unconditional love, protectiveness, guidance, leadership and all those other great qualities that go with parenting. The important thing is, not only do we feel and experience true beingness, these qualities will also get tangled up with distortions: responsibility towards a parent or parenting may become a burdensome sense of obligation for example. The ‘colour’ filter of the Archetype is intended to help us see both the authentic qualities and their distortions, assuming that is we’re taking ownership of our stuff and watching closely.

  • It may be for example that you fall head over heels in love with someone. Yet the engagement doesn’t seem to want to work, the flow doesn’t happen or there are endless barriers in the way. In which case, perhaps it’s not about a fulfilling relationship, instead passions are being activated to stir the soul and also attachments of neediness that would own the soul.

    Sacred contracts

In other cases, it could be that we take on a very powerful spiritual identity such as that of a highly evolved being. Consider for example the biblical story of Jesus. It contains many insightful characters; Mother Mary, Mary Magdalen, Judas, the disciples etc etc. The story is well known by many of course and if our soul is caused to relate to it in some way, it can invoke many deep inner feelings. On the one hand, it may catalyse feelings of unconditional love, unity, divine teamwork and on the other judgment, abandonment, betrayal. Imagine for example how Mary Magdalen might have felt following the crucifixion?

In my truth, before we incarnated into this lifetime we took on various “Sacred Contracts”. In other words we formed predestined agreements with various of our soul family that we would incarnate in particular roles to co-create circumstances in our lives to inspire greater self realisation.

I also believe that the so called “Ascended Masters” act through people by infusing their being with particular archetypal energy. I’m sure that’s why for example, there are so many claims in spiritual circles that “so and so is the reincarnation of….”. Rather than reincarnations, its highly like in most cases, people are simply taking on some of that energy in order to feel those qualities of beingness inside themselves.

What purpose do Spiritual Archetypes serve?

In short, by taking on such powerful influences, the Spiritual Archetype helps to shine a light on the true nature of our soul in day to day interactions. For example, we may relate empathically to the Buddha, in which case we may experience a deep compassion for all sentient life and feel exceptionally surrendered and non-attached. Let us be clear though, we are not being the Buddha, we are simply invoking an authentic resonance of our own soul which might be closely aligned to that vibrational frequency.

Alternatively, we might feel a strong relationship to the Christ – almost as if we are being that ourselves. So for example, we feel passionately moved to heal the sick, enlighten others or shine truth in darkness. It could be in just such occasions where we’re being caused to exhibit such energy, that we may feel the essence of it in our own soul.In my experience, the Spiritual Archetype energy will stick around in our direct field of consciousness just as long as it takes for us to realise and unleash that frequency of energy within our own soul following which, it will tend to disappear. We’ll lose the sense of identity once that aspect of soul has fully activated and integrated.

Where a Spiritual Archetype becomes a filter

Sometimes a Spiritual Archetype works kind of like a filter – so for example, two people may come together as partners where by mutual agreement (at the higher level before we incarnated) a certain energy is infused between them causing them to relate to one another in a particular way. It could be for instance, that a partner will invoke all kinds of feelings that need to be processed out from past lives. In which case, the interaction is likely to stir up those feelings so we can dissolve any attachment to our past.

So for example, it may be that we for a time we feel we’re with our perfect soul mate but then one day, when we’ve learned what we needed to, a filter is removed and the energy between the two changes – it can do so over night.

That’s why its always paramount that we’re totally honest with ourselves and our partners about how we feel in relationship. In so doing, it means each can fully embrace our ever changing, developing and evolving journeys. If the relationship needs to evolve into something else – a good friendship for example – better to acknowledge that just as soon as we can; it fosters faster self realisation and spares much of the heartache.

    True colours

So Spiritual Archetypes can be a powerful blessing in our unfolding, helping us unveil key aspects of our being. But let’s remember, the soul expresses itself ALWAYS uniquely in the moment – it doesn’t conform to an identity. If we feel ourselves identifying with one particular energy all the time, its likely that we’re creating an inner ego around that consciousness.

The journey of full unfolding is about creating an open space within, free from all identity and then allowing our true colours to shine forth uniquely and spontaneously as the moment invites.

So as the song goes, let your true colours always shine through.
They are beautiful, just like a rainbow!

    About the Author

Chris Bourne – At the age of 40, I was involved in a life threatening car crash in which I thought I would certainly die. This precipitated total inner surrender and a rapid reconnection with the conscious life force through all things.

I found myself suddenly able to experience and contemplate through multiple dimensions of reality to see the deeper purpose of life itself. It was then I began to fully realise my true reason for being here.

During the crash, time seemed to slow right down and I was guided back through key moments of my life. I was realising that every moment in our lives has but one underlying purpose – to reveal an aspect of truth about ourselves to ourselves. I was beginning to dissolve every belief and value our society had conditioned within me.

This was my initial awakening to the magical unifying consciousness of the soul. Over the eight years that followed, I was guided through four other inner ‘Gateways’ of consciousness. I have since come to know the process as the five key expansions on our journey of Enlightenment and ultimate Ascension into multi dimensional living – our divine birthright.

My consciousness expansion however did not end there. It continued to blossom and expand. I became acutely aware of a highly evolved, benevolent presence, working through the weave of life since the dawning of time itself. I have come to know this Group of Nine intimately. It guides my life and is the basis of Openhand itself.
