Chris Bourne, Openhand Contributor Waking Times  When we step onto the internal super highway of spiritual evolution, we begin to unravel the differences between personality influenced desires and authentic inner yearnings of the soul. Every moment presents an opportunity to shed behaviours which no longer serve and instead allow divine beingness to shine forth. This continual

Research Draws Link Between Personality Disorders and Animal Instincts

Frank Huguenard, Staff Writer Waking Times  According to new research in the field of consciousness, the traits and tendencies associated with the ten major personality disorders defined by modern psychologists have been found to be closely linked to any other types of natural instinctive animal and plant behavior seen in the world. Human beings are

No Need To Dread Death

Waking Times Being aware of dying does not mean fearing it but realising that it’s a part of the renewal process of the universe. Death is not a subject we often think about or are even comfortable talking about. In fact, a number of contemporary sociologists believe that despite widespread liberalization of thought in modern

Christina Sarich, Contributing Writer Waking Times  “Doctrines of reincarnation are neither absurd nor useless. It is not more surprising to be born twice than once.” Voltaire “The reservoir of Karmas (as in artificial lake, or one that we created) which are rooted in Kleshas bring a myriad of experiences in our present and future lives.” Yoga Sutra

The Physical Universe is an Information System

K.J. McClean Waking Times For 5,000 years we have been taught that our physical reality is massive and really hard to change. That viewpoint is limited, however, and is the result of knowledge gained strictly from the limitation of the five bodily senses. In fact, most of the “action” in the physical universe happens on

A Brief History of Qigong

I believe that in the near future Qigong will be considered the most exciting and challenging field of research. It is an ancient science just waiting to be investigated with the help of the new technologies now being developed at an almost explosive rate. Has Nikola Tesla Been Reincarnated?

We are automata entirely controlled by the forces of the medium being tossed about like corks on the
surface of the water, but mistaking the resultant of the impulses from the outside for free will…
A very sensitive and observant being, with his highly developed mechanism all intact, and acting with precision in
obedience to the changing conditions of the environment, is endowed with a transcending mechanical
sense, enabling him to evade perils too subtle to be directly perceived. – Tesla, 1919

Why the Power of Mind Over Matter is Important

This idea was highlighted by Gandhi who stated that a movement is much more powerful when it promotes what it stands for, rather than fight against what it opposes. Hence, those who seek to make the world a better place would be far more effective by focusing their energy and thoughts on solutions to what they oppose. This is not to say we should not acknowledge our distaste for unsavory events like war, environmental disasters, economic injustice, and the like. However, we should not allow our anger to become hatred of the perpetrators themselves, but rather to help concentrate our focus on manifesting the world we wish to see around us.
