The Only Way to Ensure That You’re Drinking Clean, Chemical-Free Water

People believe that the FDA and the food companies will ensure that we have healthy and nutritious foods. They also put their trust in government officials and municipalities to provide clean water. As a result, it has become perfectly acceptable to drink water contaminated with chemicals. Equally, people eat mainstream foods filled with chemical additives, further increasing the need to detox.

Chemicals in food and water raise concerns among many health-conscious individuals. Sadly, these people are often called quacks or conspiracy theorists, while in reality, they simply realize the fact that clean water and real food are vital components to a healthy body and mind.

  • Clean Water Does a Body Good

Water is particularly important because it accounts for up to 65% of the human body. Some organs contain an even larger percentage. For example, water makes up 73% of the heart and brain, and babies are born at about 78% water. Water allows cells to grow and reproduce, and it regulates the body’s temperature, delivers oxygen all over, and aides in the digestion and elimination processes. In addition, it acts as a shock absorber for our joints, brain and spinal cord.

Just because water is considered potable does not mean that it is free of chemicals that can slowly destroy your health. Because of the prevalence of these chemicals in what’s thought to be safe drinking water, all homes need an effective water filtration system that will remove organic and inorganic contaminants, as well as sediment and metals.

There are many affordable in-home systems, such as the counter-top Big Berkey Drinking Water Filtration System or the Aquasana Under Counter Water Filter System. If you are concerned about fluoride, you can add a Fluoride Removal Filtration System to your water line. Personal products, such as the LifeStraw Go Water Bottle, allow you to refill your water bottle from nearly any source and ensure you are always drinking clean water.

    Chemicals in Municipal Water Systems

It is common for anyone distributing water on a mass scale to use chemicals in order to ensure a certain cleanliness and safety standards. Even if there is no malicious intent behind chemically-treating water, the results can be dangerous. Here are some examples of what is used in most municipal water systems:

Chlorine is used to combat microbial contamination, but it can react with organic matter in the water and form dangerous, carcinogenic Trihalomethanes. According to Dr. Joseph M. Price, MD, in Moseby’s Medical Dictionary, “Chlorine is the greatest crippler and killer of modern times. It is an insidious poison.” (source)

The substance labeled “Fluoride” that we use in dental practices, toothpaste and water fluoridation is the hazardous waste substances caught in the wet scrubbers of the phosphorus industries. This extremely toxic, hazardous chemical is illegal to dump and would cost companies a hefty price tag to properly dispose of, instead it is SOLD to cities and towns where it is then dumped into water supplies, legally. (source)

The sodium fluoride added to U.S. water supplies is contaminated with the toxic elements lead, tungsten and aluminum, a Natural News Forensic Food Labs investigation has revealed. Strontium and uranium were also found in substantial quantities in some samples, raising additional questions about the purity of industrial fluoride used for water fluoridation. (source)

Other Contaminants That End Up in Tap Water

In addition to the chemicals intentionally dumped into water systems, there are others that find their way into your water.

Analysis of tap water supplies in major metropolitan areas conducted by the Associated Press has revealed that the water supply in 24 major U.S. cities — serving over 40 million people — are contaminated with trace amounts of pharmaceuticals including antibiotics, anti-seizure medications, anti-inflammatory drugs, psychotropic drugs, pain medications and even caffeine. (source)

The Agency is concerned about the detection of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in our water. EPA has been actively working with federal agencies and state and local partners to better understand the implications of emerging contaminants such as pharmaceuticals, endocrine disrupting chemicals, and personal care products detected in drinking water, wastewater, surface water and ground water. (source)

Leaking underground storage tanks (USTs) are a grave threat to America’s groundwater. Gas stations, industries and other entities use USTs to hold toxic material such as gasoline and oil that contain dangerous substances, including benzene, toluene and heavy metals that can cause cancer and harm developing children. USTs can threaten communities as their walls corrode by silently leaking toxins into our drinking water supplies, homes and businesses. (source)

Who Can Ensure You Are Drinking Clean Water?

Municipalities are not always reliable when it comes to ensuring that potable water is safe., so if you are drinking public tap water, consider the example of Flint, Michigan.

Flint’s water was switched from the Detroit system to sourcing from the Flint River in 2014. Because local officials failed to use proper control protocols, residents with water service delivered via lead lines suffered health problems due to lead contamination. Deliberate reporting of misleading test results and Gov. Rick Snyder’s general cost-cutting policies were also to blame. You may not always get what you’re promised when you put your health in the hands of government officials.

You are the only one that can ensure you are drinking clean water. If you don’t already have filtered water in your home for drinking and cooking, take the first step and invest in a water filter. Once your home is outfitted, consider getting a personal on-the-go filter, such as the LifeStraw or Aquamira Frontier Pro. For the little ones in your family, there are some fun water filter bottles to choose from. Another step is to consider a filtered showerhead; clean water will result in healthier skin, which is the body’s largest organ.

Water is the major component of most body parts, so only give your body clean water, free of contaminants, and the only way to ensure that you are drinking clean water is to filter it yourself.
