Let Go of Your Limitations In Order to Be Happy
“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” Buddha
The next thing from our list of 15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy is to learn and to understand why we should Give Up Our Limiting Beliefs.
I don’t know how many of us are consciously aware of the many limiting beliefs we have, and how many of these beliefs were handed down to us since the day we were born, by our family and friends, our teachers, co-workers, media, and many of the people around us. Their beliefs, their limitations , their perceptions of the world, of what was/is possible or impossible was handed down to us, and we allowed all of them to shape us and to make us the people we are today. Based on all of these beliefs we created our own reality, our own world; based on all of these beliefs and limitations we created the life we now live, not realizing that many of the beliefs are not even ours.
“Argue for your limitations, sure enough, they’re yours.” Richard Bach
Somehow all the past conditioning and all of these beliefs and limitations took us away from who we really were and from who we still are underneath it all. With every new and limiting belief about what can be done and about what can’t be done, we added more and more “dirt”, and more and more “mud” on top of ourselves, hiding our true essence, hiding who we really are, from ourselves and from those around us.
The good news is that all of these things can be changed, because no matter what happens to us we always have a choice and we always have the power to do something about it and shift gears, to change ourselves, our thoughts, our beliefs, our circumstances and our lives. By doing so, and “As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” Marianne Williamson
In one moment of awareness, one moment of sanity, you are able to really understand and to really see who you are underneath it all, and if somehow you get lost , there will always be a voice inside your head and your heart calling and asking you to go back to yourself, to go back to who you really are, to realize your true essence, and when that happens, “When you realize where you come from, you will naturally become tolerant, disinterested, amused, kindhearted as a grandmother, dignified as a king.” Lao Tzu ( 2500 – 2600 BC)
If you have some challenges remembering who you are, going back to the time when you were a carefree child who felt like the whole world belonged to him, will help a lot. By going back in time, by remembering those strong feelings and emotions, most of those limitations that were imposed on you in all these years will start to peel off, and you will be able to go back to feeling free as a child, and once again feeling like the whole world belongs to you, because the truth is, the world belongs to you and to us all.
Remember to question everything and to always check whether your thoughts and your beliefs are empowering or limiting you. “Don’t believe what your eyes are telling you. All they show is limitation. Look with your understanding, find out what you already know, and you’ll see the way to fly.” Richard Bach
