The concept of counting coup is a Native American act of courage referring to the winning of prestige in battle. A person wins prestige by uncommon acts of bravery in the face of an enemy. Danger and risk is required to count coup and it can be recorded by touching an enemy in battle and then escaping unharmed.
The late Robert Anton Wilson wonders talks about the riddle of consciousness and how the human nervous system locks the entire body together, including the mind. He describes the brain and how it reacts to our cultural programming, our reality tunnel, how our nervous system reprograms itself, and how we can crack our minds open through directed thought. Are psychedelic researchers equivalent as the scientists of the inquisition? How do we perceive our world, and are we doing enough to elevate our consciousness?
SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) like paroxetine (Paxil) and fluoxetine (Prozac) are the most prescribed pills in the U.S., used to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and undefined feelings of ickiness. Instead of getting rid of serotonin, these drugs block the reabsorption process so that serotonin keeps piling up in the synapses. The result: an extra-thick blanket of serotonin that filters out the intrusions of anguish and anxiety, making our inner worlds more secure.
We have all the choice to make. To continue to operate and experience the limitation of fear and separation, or we can let it go and move forward into a more natural state of expansive, playful consciousness where anything is possible. Absolutely anything!
