“Every decent man is ashamed of the government he lives under.” ~H. L. Mencken
Although the word democracy carries great weight with civilized people, the truly virtuous in our world are forced to acknowledge the truth about even democratic statism: the fundamental characteristic of government is uncivilized force and brutal violence.
All too often we are reminded of this fact when ‘free and democratic’ governments around the world collect resources from their citizens to build armies of state enforcement gangs and unleash them on their taxed populations for one reason or another.
Most recently, in the case of the Catalonian struggle for independence from Spain, the Spanish government unleashed hordes of barbarous jack-booted thugs on thousands of people who were attempting to exercise the supposed most sacred privilege inherent in democracies, the right to vote.
When the Catalan people attempted to vote in a referendum for independence, the Guardia Civil of Spain, leaving at least 850 people injured with thousands more shocked and afraid for their lives at the hands of their democratic institutions.
The following videos are another reminder of the callous brutality which is required to maintain state power. The state is violence and this shocking footage will go on the permanent record of state atrocities. In this first video, civil guards can be seen dragging unarmed people out of a polling station, ravaging even women and the elderly, dragging people by their hair, kicking and beating them, because the state is paying them to do so.

The following video is a compilation of footage from this event, showing the inhumanity and cruelty unleashed by the Spanish government in a futile attempt to control people who wish to live in freedom.

In the following video, American politician Ron Paul explains the situation in Spain while reminding people that the nature of government is aggression. He offers a reasoned, level-headed argument against the state, shedding light on the shocking reality of one of the world’s most sacred cows.

Interestingly, British politician Nigel Farage, one of the main proponents of BREXIT was the only member of the Eurpoean Union parliament to acknowledge and condemn the actions of the Spanish government in the disgusting repression of its own people.

Final Thoughts
In the age of ubiquitous cameras and platforms to share raw media with the world, we are able to see into the dark reality of state control, which is, always has been, and always will be the truth about the state. This brutality is the reason why truly civilized and moral people must be ashamed of the governments they live under.
Let this video evidence serve as a reminder to all people who employees of any state will willingly brutalize their neighbors and country men when given the order to do so. This is no different from the horror of the Third Reich, which still captures international imagination as people wonder how so many can willingly harm other human beings simply because they were instructed to do so by an authority figure.
There is no high morality in play here, only base level savagery.
